Rhiannon Lassiter visit

Author Rhiannon Lassiter visited Thornden on Friday, 15th March 2013.  She started the day by doing a workshop with around 20 year 8 pupils on how to write horror stories.  Pupils had to come up with ideas for where to set the story (deserted village, swamp, old boarding school) and who would be involved (ghosts, zombies).

After break Rhiannon talked to the whole of year 8 as well as groups of pupils from Quilley and Romsey schools.  She set the scene by playing a short creepy video before telling us about her experiences as a writer.  She started writing at a young age and managed to get her first book Hex published whilst studying English at Oxford.  A film company has now taken up the rights to this book so Rhiannon is hopeful it will be made into a film.

There followed a short Q&A session before Rhiannon signed books for pupils.
