Wessex Schools Literary Festival

Our two week literary festival is now over for this year. As well as visits by the authors Kit Berry and Sarwat Chadda, a number of other events took place. We hosted the lit quiz where teams of year 7 pupils competed for the Waterstone’s cup. Teams from Romsey, Hounsdown and Thornden took part with the questions set by the Schools Library Service. The scores were close, with one of the Romsey teams eventually winning, just ahead of one of the Thornden teams.

‘Get Caught Reading’ – if a member of staff saw a pupil reading a book during the fortnight, the pupil was given a raffle ticket which was entered into a prize draw. The winner was Taya Sayekaya who chose a set of ‘The Hunger Games’ books as her prize.

A quiz was held one lunchtime on current fiction. If you want to have a go – click here. The winners were the team comprising Harlan Bryant, Tom Baxter, Matt Baxter and Simon Flack.
